Yaesu FT-290RII
Get back to the equipment overview...

Allmode transceiver with max. power of 2,5W @ 144 MHz, a battery case allows
to use it outdoors with a runtime of approximately 4 hours. A loyal low weight funpack for portable operations on VHF! At the snapshot you can
see, how i used it while a local context in winter of 2005:
Once a day Alfred (DE1ABM †) radio ham gave me his very stable tripod which he got from a former surveyor. Alfred ment,
that i will know, how to use it well... This tripod is still in use for my radio equipment. On the pic i used it to fix my
8m telescopic pole. This pole consists of four parts, but in fact i did only use two of the tues and deployed it to about four meters lenght here. Withot using any fixing rope, it would be too risky.
Equipped with a Tonna F9FT 9-Element Yagi beam (Gain 13,1 dBi / 10,9 dBd).
With some tiny modifications (other pole, different holder) i use my FT-290RII for a local contest called BBT (Bayerische Bergtag / bavarian mountain day). In the contest rules the total weight of the station is limited to 7kg for VHF. This limit includes all the parts being necessary for operation like antenna, mast, tensioning or mounting of the antenna (tripod), morse key, headphone, microphone, power supply including solar cells.
