10GHz-BBT at Irschenberg in 10/2008
Get back to the activity overview...
Already some weeks before that date Ulf, DK2RV and me have been talking about microwave activity by chance. At the day of the activity we
had the spontaneous idea to get outdoors and give it a try on 10GHz. Ulf had operable equipment, so only the weather could frustrate our
mission.
Personally for me it was some kind of debut and so i was really pleased to have my first 10GHz contacts after a long time. It was amazing for
me, how great that worked.
Ulf was so kind to let my operate by myself, so that i could work like a tender for each QSO. It was a very impressive situation, when we
heard a station from the Vogelsberg in the hessian region. The distance is surely more than 400km and we could clearly hear his transmission
in SSB mode and understood, that he had about 10W output. It was quite clear for us, that we did not have enough output power, but we tried
to call in CW. He recognized something, asked for the calling station, tried to turn the antenna. We tried several thinsg for some minutes,
but in the meantime another station was calling him. He turned his antenna and we only heard noise from that time...
We had some more QSOs, some technical discussions and a lot of fun during that particularly experience. All pics have been made by Ulf -
cordially thanks by the way!
