DARC 10m contest @ Jasberg 01/2006
Get back to the activity overview...
My spartanic shack with a generator as power supply, some gasoline and my antenna, that is under cosntruction in this moment. Do i need to say,
that it was really cold that day?
My shack as closeup. Take a look at my allround genius Icom IC-706, being really ideal for such portable operations with 100W output needed. I can not
complement it often enough. In my eyes the only disadvantage is the high power consumption of this transceiver while in standby mode. I combined it
with a big rf proof power supply including very effective filters against spikes from the generator...
A lonely visitor at the end of the conest. I was really pleased, when Wolfgang (DH5WKK †) made the choise to "just give me a short visit"!
In the same breath my thanks go to all the C09ers, who supported me during the contest: Gerhard, DL6MFL / Günther, DG4MCY / Alfred, DL5ALF † / Karl, DL1KSA. They answered my CQ calls and gave me some points after ending their obligate sunday morning group QSO.
While i was demounting the equipment, Wolfgang did some shots of my 10m ground plane antenna. I mounted if on a 8m telescopic aluminium mast. On the photo i'm pulling it back in. The antenna is primarily made for CB radio (11m Band). A friend wanted to trash it, because it was out of function. I could fortunately repair it and so it's my new portable antenna for 28MHz now. When tuned for best results, it has max SWR of 1,3 over a 1 MHz band segment.
Now the contest is over, the antenna is down and all the equipment can brought to the car soon. It was really cold up there. Maybe i should have used the oven...?
